Call to Worship

Psalm 9.1, 2, 7-11

Hymn

All People That On Earth Do Dwell (Hymn #1)

CONFESSION OF SIN

Lord, we come this morning as a frail people. We do not know our own hearts, and we are distracted by many things. Nonetheless, we come because you have called us as your people to worship you. We ask this morning that our greatest joy would be Jesus. We pray that our greatest grief would not be our finances, nor our relationships, nor our health, nor our jobs, nor our circumstances, but our sin. We pray that you would let us see Jesus this morning. Amen.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Revelation 1.17-18

Fear not, (Jesus said), I am the first and the last, and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.

HYMN

Upon a Life I have not lived,
Upon a Death I did not die,
Another’s Life; Another’s Death,
I stake my whole eternity.

Not on the tears which I have shed,
Not on the sorrows I have known,
Another’s tears; Another’s griefs,
On these I rest, on these alone.

Chorus:
O Jesus, Son of God, I build on what Thy cross has done for me;
There both my life and death I read, my guilt,
and pardon there I see.
There I see.

Lord, I believe; O deal with me,
As one who has Thy Word believed!
I take the gift, Lord, look on me,
As one who has Thy gift received. (Chorus)

Repeat Verse 1

Closing Chorus:
O Jesus, Son of God, I build on what Thy cross has done for me;
There both my life and death I read, my guilt,
and pardon there I see.
O Jesus, Son of God, I build on what Thy cross has done for me;
There both my life and death I read, my guilt,
and pardon there I see.
There I see.

Confession of FAith

Westminster Shorter Catechism

Q. 91. How do the Sacraments become effectual means of salvation?
A. The Sacraments become effectual means of salvation, not from any virtue in them, or in him that administers them; but only by the blessing of Christ, and the working of his Spirit in them that by faith receive them.

Q. 92. What is a Sacrament?
A. A Sacrament is a holy ordinance instituted by Christ; wherein, by sensible signs, Christ and the benefits of the new covenant are represented, sealed, and applied to believers.

Q. 96. What is the Lord’s Supper?
A. The Lord’s Supper is a Sacrament, wherein, by giving and receiving bread and wine, according to Christ’s appointment, his death is showed forth; and the worthy receivers are, not after a corporal and carnal manner, but by faith, made partakers of
his body and blood, with all his benefits, to their spiritual nourishment and growth in grace.

All Praise to Him

All praise to Him, the God of light
Who formed the mountains by His might
All praise to Him who names the stars
That sing His fame in skies afar
All praise to Him who reigns in love
Who guides the galaxies above
Yet bends to hear our every prayer
With sovereign power and tender care

All praise to Him whose love is seen
In Christ, the Son, the Servant King
Who left behind His glorious throne
To pay the ransom for His own
All praise to Him who humbly came
To bear our sorrow, sin, and shame
Who lived to die, who died to rise
The all-sufficient sacrifice

All praise to Him whose power imparts
The love of God within our hearts
The Spirit of all truth and peace
The fount of joy and holiness

To Father, Son, and Spirit now
Our souls we lift, our wills we bow
To You, the triune God, we raise
With loving hearts our song of praise

To Father, Son, and Spirit now
Our souls we lift, our wills we bow
To You, the triune God, we raise
With loving hearts our song of praise

Wonderful Words of Life (Hymn #697)

HYmn

HIS TITHES & OUR OFFERINGS

SERMON

Father, Long Before Creation

Father, long before creation Thou hadst chosen us in love,
And that love so deep, so moving, draws us close to Christ above.
Still it keeps us, still it keeps us firmly fixed in Christ alone.

Though the world may change its fashion yet our God is e'er the same
His compassion and His covenant through all ages will remain
God's own children, God's own children must forever praise His name.

God's compassion is my story, is my boasting all the day;
Mercy free and never failing moves my will, directs my way.
God so loved us, God so loved us that His only Son He gave.

Loving Father now before Thee we will ever praise Thy love,
And our songs will sound unceasing ‘til we reach our home above,
Giving glory, giving glory to our God and to the Lamb
Giving glory, giving glory to our God and to the Lamb.
